They say music is a great healer.
And, that’s certainly the case for one little boy.
Jack Robbins, 8, has autism, and according to his mom, Carla, never says anything “he’s not told to say”—that is until he discovered Katy Perry’s Roar.
“We heard our nonverbal autistic son saying or singing something repeatedly every day and we thought it was nonsense, meaningless jabber. UNTIL one day (this morning) we really listened and figured out he was SINGING Katy Perry’s “Roar” song!” Carla writes alongside video of her son singing.
“He never says a word he is not told to say and he spontaneously sang this song, over and over because, well, obviously he likes it! Which is a miracle and so cool that he had a preference for music, an artist, a song AND he’s singing it! Katy Perry you should meet our beautiful son Jack who obviously loves you! ”
The proud mom told WFAA this is the first time Jack has ever verbally communicated spontaneously and that she is “elated” by the development.
“I was so happy to know something he liked,” Carla said. “I don’t know what his favorite food is, what his favorite color is.
“It gives me hope. I want him to be able to communicate his feelings… but mostly I want him to be happy in life.”
